Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to Siren Head following a five-studio bidding war that included Sony, Universal, Paramount, and Disney’s 20th Century Studios. Brian Duffield will direct from a script he co-wrote with Zach Cregger.
The deal closed in the low seven figures. Producers are Roy Lee and Andrew Childs of Vertigo Entertainment, Scott Glassgold of 12:01 Films, and Duffield via Jurassic Party Productions. Creator Trevor Henderson will executive produce. The project is based on an original take by Cregger.
Siren Head originated as a drawing Henderson made in 2018: a tall skeletal figure whose head is replaced by two blaring air-raid sirens, lurking in rural wooded areas and broadcasting distorted human voices. The creature has accumulated approximately 3 billion TikTok views, 1 billion YouTube views, and millions of Roblox plays, according to Variety.
Cregger wrote and directed Barbarian (2022) and Weapons (2025), the latter earning Amy Madigan an Academy Award. Duffield directed No One Will Save You (2023) and is currently finishing Whalefall. The film will be released theatrically. Streaming rights were excluded from the deal.
The acquisition follows the breakout success of Backrooms, which opened to $81.4 million domestically and established that viral internet creatures can translate to full theatrical grosses.
