Ink, Danny Boyle's biographical drama about the birth of a tabloid, released new promotional photographs on August 25. The film opens the 83rd Venice Film Festival on September 2, where it competes for the Golden Lion.
The story centers on 1969 and the events that transformed The Sun from a failing broadsheet into one of the most read papers in British history. Jack O'Connell plays Larry Lamb, the working-class editor who rebuilt it. Guy Pearce plays a thirty-something Rupert Murdoch who funded the gamble. Claire Foy plays Jules Davies, a fictional composite drawn from figures of the era.
James Graham wrote the screenplay, adapted from his Olivier Award-winning stage play of the same name. Principal photography began in October 2025, shot across London, Saltaire, Hebden Bridge, and Halifax. StudioCanal fully financed the production, with cinematography by Alwin H. Küchler and music by Daniel Pemberton.
Netflix acquired domestic and Latin American streaming rights in July 2026, in a deal negotiated by WME Independent and StudioCanal. The film runs 116 minutes. It opens in US theaters December 11, 2026, before streaming on Netflix on January 8, 2027. StudioCanal handles theatrical releases across the UK, France, Germany, and several other territories.
