The Daniels are casting their return. Sandra Oh is in talks to join Matt Damon in the filmmaking duo's first feature since Everything Everywhere All at Once, an untitled Universal event film scheduled for November 19, 2027, according to Deadline.

The project spans two timelines: one set in the 1980s, one in the present. The Hollywood Reporter reports the story involves global warming and time travel, with teen protagonists at the center of the earlier era. Damon is attached to play the father of one of those teens.

Assembling the cast was not straightforward. Ryan Gosling originally circled the lead before departing over creative differences and scheduling conflicts. Jack Black was briefly considered. The script, once built across three timelines, was condensed to two during development.

Production begins in Los Angeles this summer under California tax credit requirements. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert produce through their Playgrounds company, which holds an overall deal with Universal. Jonathan Wang produces alongside them.

The Daniels won seven Academy Awards for Everything Everywhere All at Once in 2023, including Best Picture and Best Director. This is their first film since.
