Theo James Krekis has signed with Anonymous Content for commercial representation, The Wrap confirmed Sunday. Ian McKnight at Anonymous Content oversaw the deal. Krekis continues to be represented by Francesca Devas at Independent Talent Group.
The signing follows significant industry interest in his BBC-commissioned short, "Jealous People Are Ugly People," which premiered at SXSW in March 2026. According to Puck, at least ten companies competed for the feature adaptation rights, among them Temple Hill, Paramount, Blumhouse, Universal, New Line, 20th Century, and Lionsgate.
The ten-minute film is a darkly comic psychological thriller about male jealousy and the Greek evil eye superstition. A man grows convinced that his envy of his best friend is physically harming him. Horror has not been this competitive at the acquisition level in years.
Krekis, who is Greek and British and based in South London, has been building steadily. He wrote and created "Blossom," a six-part BBC series about teenagers at a grief camp produced by Clerkenwell Films. He is also writing a new series from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight for Kudos. Earlier shorts, including "Pram Snatcher," "Memoirs of a Geeza," and "Mangas," all premiered at BFI London Film Festival.
A feature version of "Jealous People" is in development. Ten companies entered the room. Not all of them left with a deal.
