Christopher Nolan has confirmed that The Prestige will return to theaters on January 21, 2027, marking the 20th anniversary of the rivalry thriller. Nolan made the announcement during an interview with Fred Asquith, according to Yahoo Entertainment.

The film was Nolan's fifth feature, placed between Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008). It follows two rival Victorian-era magicians played by Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman, with a cast that also includes Scarlett Johansson, Michael Caine, Rebecca Hall, Piper Perabo, and David Bowie. The screenplay was co-written by Nolan and his brother Jonathan, adapting Christopher Priest's 1995 novel.

Made on a $40 million budget, the film earned over $109 million worldwide and received Oscar nominations for Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction. It holds a 77% Tomatometer and a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Nolan confirmed the re-release while discussing The Odyssey, which opens July 17, 2026. He reflected on his approach to The Prestige and how it compared to his current work. The January 2027 window positions the film as a rare chance for audiences to see its twists on a cinema screen, two decades removed from its original run.
