Natalia Dyer is set to star in the first sequel to 1408, Mikael Håfström's 2007 adaptation of Stephen King's short story, with Elijah Wood joining in a supporting role. Variety first reported the casting on November 6.

John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson are each in negotiations to reprise their original roles. Cusack would return as author and paranormal investigator Michael Enslin; Jackson as Gerald Olin, the manager of New York's Dolphin Hotel. Both are expected to appear in secondary capacities. Cusack told People in 2025 that a 1408 follow-up was the only sequel he would ever consider making.

Håfström is returning to direct from a script he co-wrote with Mark Verheiden. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Richard Saperstein of Bluestone Entertainment are producing alongside Spyglass Media Group and Frank Mayor. Bluestone and FilmNation Entertainment are co-financing. FilmNation holds international rights and was set to introduce the project to buyers at the American Film Market this week.

The original 1408 grossed $132 million worldwide against a $25 million production budget and has built a devoted following since its MGM release. Based on Stephen King's 1999 short story of the same name, it remains one of the more commercially successful standalone King adaptations of the 2000s. No plot details for the sequel have been disclosed. Production is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
