Charles D. King's Macro Entertainment has acquired AllBlk from AMC Global Media, marking the production company's first move into direct-to-consumer streaming. Financial terms were not disclosed.

AllBlk launched in 2014 as Urban Movie Classics, a streaming service founded by Robert L. Johnson, the founder of BET. The service became part of AMC in 2018 through the network's acquisition of RLJ Entertainment. Its catalog spans original series, independent films, classic Black cinema, and stage productions, with titles including A House Divided, Double Cross, and Judge Me Not.

Founded in 2015, Macro has produced some of the most critically recognized films centered on Black stories, including Judas and the Black Messiah, Fences, and One of Them Days. The AllBlk acquisition gives the company a direct distribution channel, completing a vertical integration strategy that now spans development, production, management, and audience reach.

"At a time of significant disruption and consolidation across the media industry landscape, Macro sees an opportunity to invest in a focused platform with a clear audience and strengthen it through greater resources, content and creative partnerships," King said, according to Deadline.

AMC Global Media, a longtime Macro investor, will remain in the company and has entered a new content licensing agreement alongside the transaction. The deal makes Macro one of the few independent media companies in Hollywood to control its projects from development to distribution.
