Jaafar Jackson has joined the cast of Supermax, the Amazon MGM action thriller directed by David Gordon Green, according to Deadline. His role has not been disclosed, though it is described as pivotal to the film's central plot.
The story centers on two FBI agents investigating a murder committed inside the world's most secure prison. Will Smith leads as Rex, a veteran investigator, with AnnaSophia Robb playing his younger partner. For Jackson, the role is his second feature film credit. His first was the lead in the Michael Jackson biopic Michael.
Amazon MGM acquired worldwide rights to the project at Cannes in May for approximately $70 million, according to Variety. Supermax will bypass theaters entirely and release exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries. Production is set to begin in mid-August 2026.
The screenplay was written by David Weil and David J. Rosen. Producers include Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman of The Picture Company, alongside Smith and Adam Fishbach of Westbrook Studios.
For Green, the project marks a notable shift after the Halloween reboot trilogy. A $70 million acquisition and a cast built on two names with distinct cultural weight positions Supermax as something to watch well before cameras roll in August.
