A24's next creature feature will not be a slow burn horror film. It will be a raunchy puppet comedy described by industry insiders as "Ted meets E.T." and Kenneth Branagh is voicing the goblin.

Chase Sui Wonders is in talks to join the ensemble of Goblin, directed by first time feature filmmaker David Mikalson, according to Deadline. She joins a cast that already includes Skyler Gisondo, Will Forte, and Branagh, who voices the title creature.

Mikalson wrote the original screenplay, which set off a bidding war in Hollywood before A24 prevailed. The film uses practical puppet effects rather than CGI, positioning it in a lineage of cult creature features. Production is set to begin in 2027.

Wonders has built a quick resume in A24's orbit. She appeared in Bodies Bodies Bodies and earned a Gotham TV Award nomination for her role in Apple TV+'s The Studio. Her next theatrical release, Slayground, opens January 29, 2027.

The film is rated R. That it is also A24's project suggests the studio is deliberately diversifying away from its horror stronghold. A raunchy comedy with a practical puppet and a Shakespearean actor voicing the creature is either the studio's most unexpected swing in years, or exactly the kind of move A24 was always building toward.
