The Parr family returns, and this time, the story belongs to the kids. At Disney's D23 fan convention this week, Pixar confirmed Incredibles 3 for a June 16, 2028 release. Peter Sohn (Elemental, The Good Dinosaur) will direct. Brad Bird returns as writer and executive producer.

Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter outlined the film's direction at D23. Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack are the central characters. The older siblings will be sneaking out at night to prove they're ready to operate as full Supers, while Jack-Jack's expanding roster of powers becomes an increasingly unpredictable variable. The family faces a new villain described as more powerful than the entire Parr household combined.

The Parr children remain the same ages as in Incredibles 2, despite the decade that has passed in reality. According to Inside the Magic, Bird has said the kids' superpowers are linked to specific life stages, and moving the timeline forward would undercut the archetypal quality central to the family's design. The sequel runs that logic in a new direction.

Sohn's selection signals the register Pixar wants. His previous films have centered on emotional interiority and family bonds; Inside the Magic reports he was chosen for his approach to emotional storytelling. Dana Murray, producer of Soul, produces alongside Bird.

Incredibles 3 will be Pixar's 34th feature. It arrives fourteen years after Incredibles 2, in the summer slot the original claimed in 2004.
