The 34th Raindance Film Festival closed in London on June 26, 2026, with Jane Fonda's environmental documentary Gaslit taking Best Documentary Feature. Directed by Katie Camosy in her feature debut, the film follows Fonda on a road trip through the oil and gas fields of the Southern United States, documenting the communities living alongside industrial pollution. It is the first feature-length production from Greenpeace USA, and also stars Connie Britton and Maggie Rogers.
The collaboration between Camosy and Fonda grew from their work on Greenpeace's "Fire Drill Friday" series. Camosy told Variety: "For her, it's all about the work and getting the best result. I can't think of a better mentor."
The festival screened 85 narrative and documentary features, 112 short films, and 27 immersive projects across its June 17 to June 26 run. Additional awards went to Daryl Chase's Macbeth (Best U.K. Feature), Marie-Elsa Sgualdo's Silent Rebellion (Best International Feature), and Rob Alicea's Serena, which claimed the inaugural Best Horror Feature prize. Stella Marie Markert took Best Debut Feature for Thanks for Nothing.
The opening gala also conferred Icon Awards on several figures. Brian Cox, the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor known for Logan Roy in Succession, received one, with the honor presented by director Jim Sheridan. Miriam Margolyes, BAFTA winner and the Harry Potter franchise's Professor Sprout, also received an Icon Award. Lloyd Kaufman, co-founder of Troma Entertainment, and rock pioneer Eddie Cochran, honored posthumously, completed the recipients.
