Evil Dead Burn arrived in approximately 3,000 domestic theaters on July 10, 2026, as the sixth entry in one of horror's most durable franchises. Directed by Sébastien Vanicek and produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert through Ghost House Pictures, the film is distributed by Warner Bros. via New Line Cinema and Screen Gems.
Thursday night previews returned $2.3 million. That figure sits just below the $2.5 million preview gross of Evil Dead Rise, the 2023 predecessor, which ultimately opened to $23.5 million. According to Deadline, the film was made for approximately $20 million and is projected to open in the mid-to-high teens.
That arithmetic is relevant. Evil Dead Burn opened the same day as Disney's live-action Moana, a film carrying a $250 million production budget that drew $4.5 million in Thursday previews. The contrast is a recurring one in the current theatrical landscape: franchise horror operates at a scale that remains self-sustaining, while tentpole live-action remakes require global audiences to justify their cost.
Vanicek, whose debut Infested screened internationally in 2023, shot Evil Dead Burn in New Zealand. The film follows Alice, a newly widowed Frenchwoman who shelters with her American in-laws as demonic possession spreads through the family. The cast includes Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, Tandi Wright, and Luciane Buchanan. Vanicek co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard. Bruce Campbell serves as executive producer.
Evil Dead Burn holds a 72% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes as of its opening day.
