The final trailer for Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three arrived October 27, offering the clearest look yet at the adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah. The film opens December 18, 2026, against Marvel's Avengers: Doomsday.
Set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides seized the imperial throne, the story turns on the consequences of his rule. The official synopsis: "Emperor Paul Atreides faces the fallout from his ascent to power." What that means, in practice, is rebellion, a galaxy-wide holy war of his own making, and a covert Bene Tleilax plot designed to dismantle House Atreides from within.
Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul, Zendaya as Chani, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, and Javier Bardem as Stilgar. Anya Taylor-Joy reprises Alia Atreides. Jason Momoa joins the franchise as Hayt, a ghola resurrection of Duncan Idaho, while Robert Pattinson debuts as Scytale, the Tleilaxu Face Dancer at the center of the film's antagonist scheme. Josh Brolin, Charlotte Rampling, and Isaach de Bankolé round out the ensemble.
Villeneuve co-wrote the screenplay with Brian K. Vaughan. Warner Bros. is releasing the film under the tagline "The Epic Conclusion." December 18 puts Dune: Part Three directly opposite Avengers: Doomsday. Two of the year's most anticipated tentpoles on the same date. It is an unusual configuration for the year-end calendar.
