Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will debut on Paramount+ on July 25, 2026. Paramount released a new trailer alongside the date announcement, ending months of uncertainty over how and when the film would reach audiences.

The film's path to release has been turbulent. Originally scheduled to open in theaters on October 9, Paramount moved it to a streaming release in December 2025. In April 2026, the full film leaked online, a development that no doubt accelerated the decision to set a firm streaming date. Paramount+ Brazil's account inadvertently surfaced the July date before the official announcement.

Directed by Lauren Montgomery, Steve Ahn, and William Mata, the film features an adult Aang voiced by Eric Nam, with Dave Bautista as Tagah, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Steven Yeun as Zuko, and Dionne Quan as Toph. The screenplay was written by Tim Hedrick and Christopher Yost. Original series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko wrote the story alongside Hedrick and Kenneth Lin, and serve as producers alongside Latifa Ouaou and Maryann Garger.

Director Lauren Montgomery addressed the move from theaters to streaming in a statement reported by The Wrap. "The recent decision to move us from theatrical to streaming might give the impression that the quality wasn't sufficient," she said, "but that couldn't be farther from the truth."

Avatar Aang is the first animated feature from Avatar Studios, which DiMartino and Konietzko lead as a division of Nickelodeon Animation Studio, founded in 2021. The film follows an adult Aang as he discovers an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction, and races to find it before it falls into the wrong hands.
