About

Born in Hartford, Conn., John Brinkley spent two years in the Air Force, where he served in the far East. Returning to New York, the next few years were consumed with study at the Academy of Dramatic Arts and working professionally with the New York Shakespeare Guild and in various off-Broadway productions, including 'The Big Story.' After arriving in Los Angeles, Brinkley almost immediately received the starring part in the legitimate stage production of 'A View From The Bride' at the Players Ring. He next co-starred with Chico Marx in 'Fifth Season.' He appeared on television in such shows as 'Matinee Theatre,' and in the filmed series 'Annapolis,' 'The Silent Service' and 'Perry Mason.' Acclaimed as one of Hollywood's top teenage actors, Brinkley's versatility and talents provoked an audience reaction similar to that stimulated by the late James Dean, to whom he was often compared.
