About

Born in 1945 in Sicuani, Cusco, Francisco Salomón grew up under the bright lights and shadows of the Canchis cinema, where old serials instilled in him a childhood passion for film. Years later, he studied under Pablo Guevara, Miguel Reynel, and Manuel Chambi at the Film and Television School of the University of Lima. During the period when Law 19327 was in effect, he directed a dozen short films, including the notable titles "Ángel de la noche" (Angel of the Night) and "Candico, huaquero de oficio y ciencia" (Candico, Grave Robber by Trade and Science). He also worked as a cinematographer on more than twenty short films for directors such as Nelson García, Silvia Kantor, and his brother Emilio Salomón, among others. In feature films, he directed the "Sábado Chico" (Little Saturday) episode of "Una raya más al tigre" (One More Stripe on the Tiger) (1981) and was the cinematographer for…
