About
Phoebus Gikopoulos (Greek: Φοίβος Γκικόπουλος) became widely known for his one and only appearance in cinema, playing Nikos Belogiannis. This was the leading role in Nikos Tzimas' historical, biographical film "The Man with the Carnation" (1980). After the huge success of the film, Phoebus Gikopoulos chose not to continue in the field of reception. He devoted himself fully to his academic career and became Professor of History of Italian Literature at the Department of Italian Language and Philology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
