A leading figure in independent and experimental cinema and audiovisual production from the late 1960s onwards, Miscuglio was the founder in 1967, with Americo Sbardella and Paolo Castaldini, of Filmstudio 70, the first Italian underground film club. During the 1970s she began her activity as a filmmaker and activist, taking part in the first Italian feminist collectives and films, and in 1976 she organized Kinomata, the first international women's film conference-festival in Rome, with Roni Daopoulo. At the same time, she allowed herself the creative and productive freedom of super8, creating small experimental works.
