About
Juan Esteban Suárez graduated from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in Economics in 1982. He then began a career in the film industry, working across documentaries, commercials, and feature films. His journey began as a video assist operator on his first film, La Gran Fiesta, where he gained invaluable technical knowledge and organizational skills from continuity supervisor Alfonso Cuarón (Roma, Gravity ) and first assistant director Luis Estrada (El Infierno). In 1989, he served as a continuity supervisor on the Academy Award-nominated film Lo que le pasó a Santiago by Jacobo Morales. He later progressed to the role of assistant director and became a member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA).
