Overview
Set in 1972, "A Dress to See Mom" follows nine-year-old Márcia, who, faced with the physical and emotional absence of her mother for four long months, discovers early on the weight of responsibilities. Between household chores and caring for her siblings in a lower-middle-class interracial family, she finds strength to persevere in her mother's memory and affection. With delicacy and a touch of surrealism, the short film reveals the power of the bond between mother and daughter, addressing universal themes such as childhood, longing, and gender inequality.
