Amazon MGM Studios released the trailer for Verity, the psychological thriller adapted from Colleen Hoover's 2018 novel. Anne Hathaway plays the titular bestselling author who becomes bedridden after a car accident, while Dakota Johnson stars as struggling writer Lowen, hired to complete Hathaway's book series.
Directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, The Eyes of Tammy Faye), the film follows Lowen as she uncovers disturbing manuscript pages revealing dark secrets about Verity and her husband Jeremy, played by Josh Hartnett. The trailer teases psychological manipulation and twisted romance as Lowen becomes entangled with the family.
Verity was Hoover's highest-selling self-published novel before her mainstream breakthrough. Her It Ends With Us film adaptation grossed $351 million worldwide in 2024, cementing her box office appeal. Hoover has sold over 35 million books globally, with the #ColleenHoover hashtag garnering 2.4 billion TikTok views.
Verity opens in theaters October 2, 2026.
