Travis Scott is moving into development. The Houston rapper has signed a first-look deal with Paramount Pictures through Cactus Jack, his production company. The partnership spans film, television, theater, and immersive entertainment, with Scott positioned to take on roles as producer, director, composer, and sound designer. The agreement was announced in a Variety interview published July 24. No specific projects have been announced.
Under the deal, Paramount gets first access to any project Scott develops before it can be pitched elsewhere. Scott, 35, told Variety he is drawn to dark, suspense-driven thrillers and is interested in discovering new talent.
"I want to bring back amazing films, pictures and just creative good ideas," Scott told Variety. "And [Paramount’s] not scared to make good ideas."
The deal arrives weeks after Scott’s appearance in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which opened July 15 to $124 million domestically. Scott plays a bard who delivers some of the film’s opening lines. It was his second collaboration with Nolan: in 2020 he contributed “The Plan” to the Tenet soundtrack. The Paramount deal marks the clearest signal yet that Scott is building a film career beyond appearances in other directors’ work.
