The Batman Part II entered principal photography on June 12 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden. The production carries the working title Semper Vigilans. In Latin, the phrase means "always vigilant."
Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne alongside Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell reprising Oz Cobb. The sequel brings in Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Dent, Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent, Charles Dance as Charles Dent, and Brian Tyree Henry in an undisclosed role. Barry Keoghan is expected to reprise the Joker.
Location work began earlier. Second unit cameras shot at St George's Hall and the Birkenhead Tunnel in Liverpool before principal photography started. Glasgow is also on the schedule, with the city doubling for Gotham alongside London.
Erik Messerschmidt steps in as cinematographer, replacing Greig Fraser, who shot the 2022 original. The script follows Batman investigating another case in a Gotham still reckoning with the flooding that ended the first film, set a few weeks after the events of The Penguin series.
Three new cast members share the Dent name. The DC Elseworlds banner keeps this Batman distinct from the DCU James Gunn is building. The film is dated for IMAX release on October 1, 2027.
