The second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived June 17, expanding the film's scope with new characters and a sharpened sense of its central threat.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film follows Tom Holland's Peter Parker through a world that has completely forgotten him. His friends MJ, played by Zendaya, and Ned, played by Jacob Batalon, have no memory of who he is. The story takes place years after the events of No Way Home. Parker is the only person immune to a possessing force that has begun moving through people around him.

The new trailer makes that threat concrete. Mark Ruffalo appears as Bruce Banner, with the Savage Hulk resurfacing after the entity takes hold of him. Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle, the Punisher, assigned to protect MJ. Michael Mando is back as Scorpion. Parker himself is undergoing physical changes: organic webbing, and eyes that black out when he loses control.

The film is written by Erik Sommers, Chris McKenna, and Justin Kuritzkes. It is Holland's fourth solo Spider-Man feature, arriving more than four years after No Way Home, which grossed nearly two billion dollars globally according to The Hollywood Reporter. The first Brand New Day trailer drew 718.6 million views in 24 hours, surpassing the previous record held by Deadpool and Wolverine.

The film opens July 31.
