Quentin Tarantino is in Wales, on someone else’s film. Set photos from Cardiff, first spotted by Welsh outlet Nation.Cymru and reported by Deadline on June 22, confirm Tarantino is acting in Tangled Up in Blue, a new feature directed by Jamie Adams. Joining him on set: Kylie Minogue, Allison Williams, RZA, Jason Isaacs, and Sofia Boutella.
The production is backed by Visor Entertainment, a company founded by producer Jordan Levine. The ensemble is broad and, on paper, improbable. Pop icon. Director-as-actor. An American rapper. A British character actor. A French-Algerian action star. In Cardiff.
Adams and Tarantino have collaborated before. Adams previously directed Tarantino as an actor in Only What We Carry, according to Deadline. That film passed largely without notice. Tangled Up in Blue arrives with a louder cast list and, now, a set of paparazzi photos neither party appears to have sanctioned.
The timing adds context. Tarantino is also in the UK preparing The Popinjay Cavalier, his West End theatrical debut, penciled in for early 2027. “The play is written. It is absolutely the next thing I’m going to do,” he said last summer. The Cardiff photos make that timeline look more flexible than advertised.
Tarantino has said, repeatedly, that he plans to retire from directing after his tenth film. He has said almost nothing about acting. The distinction between those two careers apparently does not interest him much. What the set photos show is something simpler: a filmmaker with no film to direct, finding other ways to stay in a frame.
