Grand Theft Auto VI has a release date. It also now has a streaming platform.

On August 27, Netflix became the first stop for Rockstar Games' latest look at GTA 6, premiering an extended presentation of in-game footage at 3 p.m. ET. Six hours later, the same material went live on YouTube and across social platforms at 9 p.m. ET. The presentation, titled "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look," ran approximately 26 minutes and was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5.

The footage showed the game's two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, navigating criminal activity across Vice City and the state of Leonida. The demo covered character switching, vehicle sequences, shooting mechanics, and a late high-rise infiltration mission played in parallel from both characters' perspectives.

GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The Netflix window is a notable industry signal. Rockstar already has a relationship with Netflix through Netflix Games, which hosts mobile versions of older GTA titles. Choosing Netflix over YouTube for a global gameplay reveal transforms what would have been a marketing event into a streaming moment. Historically, major game trailers have bowed on developer channels and YouTube. Framing a gameplay presentation as streaming content positions the gaming industry closer to film and television than it has been before.

It is the kind of deal that will invite imitation.
