The first trailer for Greta Gerwig's Narnia: The Magician's Nephew arrived on October 13, setting up one of the most anticipated fantasy releases of early 2027. Netflix released the footage at 2 PM ET alongside a poster bearing the tagline "A Universe Begins." The film opens in theaters on February 12, 2027, with IMAX previews beginning February 10. It streams on Netflix on April 2, 2027.

Gerwig wrote and directed the adaptation, drawing from C.S. Lewis's origin novel rather than The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The trailer follows young Digory and Polly, played by newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell, through Uncle Andrew's study and into the Wood Between the Worlds, where they accidentally awaken Jadis. The footage closes with Aslan's roar conjuring Narnia from deep space.

The most discussed element is the casting of Meryl Streep as Aslan, a role previously voiced by Liam Neeson across the original trilogy. Gerwig's Aslan carries a Bowie-inspired design: a red face stripe and eyes of different colors. Gerwig told Empire, "I wanted someone who was profound but not pretentious, who had gravitas but not morose self-seriousness." She added, "I wanted someone who was older than 70, so there was a wisdom of experience." Emma Mackey plays Jadis. Daniel Craig plays Uncle Andrew. The cast also includes Carey Mulligan, Ciarán Hinds, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Denise Gough, and Susan Wokoma.

According to What's on Netflix, the trailer uses "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin, marking the first time the band has granted the song's use in a film. The score is by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. Seamus McGarvey serves as cinematographer. Netflix distributes in North America; Sony Pictures handles the international theatrical release.
