Amazon MGM Studios released the first trailer for The Thomas Crown Affair on July 31, setting a March 5, 2027 worldwide theatrical release date. The film marks Michael B. Jordan's return to the director's chair since Creed III, and his first major project since winning the Best Actor Oscar for Sinners earlier this year.
Jordan stars as Thomas Crown, a billionaire whose public life conceals an international criminal operation. Adria Arjona plays a former FBI agent drawn into Crown's orbit. Kenneth Branagh appears as an antagonist operating above both of them. The ensemble also includes Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, and Pilou Asbæk. The screenplay was written by Drew Pearce and Jason Hall. Grammy-winning musician Jon Batiste composed the original score.
"A baby of mine that I've been wanting to make for a really long time," Jordan told JobLo, describing the project as a re-imagination of the source material rather than a remake. "I wanted to give Crown a mission and make him someone you could root for," he added, according to Gold Derby.
The film was shot in IMAX and takes the story international. Previous adaptations were set in a single city: Boston in the 1968 original starring Steve McQueen, and New York in the 1999 remake with Pierce Brosnan. Jordan's version expands across multiple locations. The tagline is "Revenge is a Work of Art."
