Lucy Hale is set to star in and executive produce Scarlett Holmes, a new limited series greenlit by Roku Channel. The announcement, reported Tuesday by Deadline, Variety, and The Wrap, marks Hale's return to series television and her first credited producing role at scale.

The premise reimagines the Holmes mythology as a romantic comedy. Hale plays a modern descendant of Sherlock Holmes who has inherited the family's forensic powers of observation but turns them on the mysteries of love and dating, working alongside a sidekick named Jane Watson. A character named Ollie Moriarty also appears; casting for both supporting roles is ongoing.

Scarlett Holmes is written by Paris Herbert-Taylor and Katie Wilbert and produced by Jaggi Entertainment, whose CEO Steve Jaggi and Sophie Tilson serve as executive producers alongside Hale. The series will debut on The Roku Channel in 2027. "I am a true diehard fan of romantic comedies, and 'Scarlett Holmes' has that special something that made me fall in love with the genre," Hale said, according to The Wrap. Brian Tannenbaum, Roku's head of originals, described her as having "the wit, warmth and comedic instincts that make her the perfect creative partner."

Hale's last regular television role was Katy Keene, The CW's Archie Comics adaptation, which ran in 2020. Since then she has taken on film and limited projects. The Roku deal positions her as both talent and producer on a studio-backed property with built-in franchise potential.
