In a Violent Nature: Part 2 opens in theaters on February 12, 2027. IFC Films and Shudder announced the date at their New York Comic-Con panel on October 10, following the film's world premiere at Fantastic Fest on September 18.
The sequel returns Ry Barrett as Johnny, the masked undead killer at the center of Chris Nash's 2024 Sundance original. Barrett is joined by Lucas Nguyen, Olivia Scriven, Laurie Babin, Fionn Laird, Donald MacLean Jr., and Evan Marsh. This time, Johnny's rampage lands him at a summer camp, where an outcast camper is forced to spend the night with his counselor sister and her friends at an end-of-season party.
Nash, who wrote and directed the original, co-directs the sequel with Nate Wilson, who served as first assistant director on the first film. Nash also wrote the screenplay. The production is backed by Zygote Pictures and Shudder Films.
The original In a Violent Nature made its case by refusing the genre's usual terms. Where slashers follow the victim, Nash's film fixed its camera on Johnny, tracking him through the forest with a deliberateness closer to slow cinema than horror. That formal choice gave the film a shelf life beyond its theatrical run, and a critical reception unusual for an IFC horror release. Whether Part 2 holds to that discipline, now with Wilson as co-director, is what the Fantastic Fest cut begins to answer. The February 12 date, timed against Valentine's Day, positions it as the least romantic option on the calendar.
