Black Bear will release Honeymoon / Funeral in North America, the distributor announced October 9. MRC financed the production. FilmNation Entertainment holds worldwide sales rights. The film was among the few projects to close a deal at the inaugural TIFF market.

Rebecca Ferguson and Greta Lee play two strangers on a flight from Los Angeles to London. One is traveling alone to her honeymoon after her girlfriend left her at the altar. The other is heading home for her mother's funeral. They spend the week together. Carrie Coon plays the ex-fiancee of Lee's character.

Director Nahnatchka Khan is a two-time Emmy nominee for Fresh Off the Boat and made her feature debut with Netflix's Always Be My Maybe in 2019. The script is by Julia Bicknell, an Emmy nominee for Yellowjackets. Khan and Jennifer Carreras produced for Fierce Baby, with Bicknell also producing.

Principal photography wrapped in London last month. The film is in post-production, with no release date announced.

"An original and hilarious story that is deeply human," said Katie Anderson, Black Bear's EVP of Acquisitions, per The Wrap.

Black Bear's next theatrical release is Olivia Colman's Wicker, set for October 23.
