The 2026 Gotham Award nominations were announced Tuesday, revealing what The Wrap described as "a very indie bunch." Five films tied for the most nominations with four each: "The Invite," "All of a Sudden," "Clarissa," "Possible Love," and "La Gradiva."

The Outstanding Lead Performance field is ten deep. Ian McKellen earns a nod for "The Christophers." Mahershala Ali is nominated for "Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother." Andrew Scott, Julianne Moore, and John Malkovich round out a category that reads more like a curated festival circuit than an awards-season shortlist. Gillian Anderson, Jeon Do-yeon, John Early, Sophie Okonedo, and John Turturro complete the slate.

The supporting category is equally packed. Adam Driver receives a nomination for "Paper Tiger." Penélope Cruz is recognized for "The Invite," Andrew Garfield for "Artificial," and Sandra Hüller for "Fatherland." Channing Tatum ("Josephine") and Esmé Creed-Miles ("Sense and Sensibility") also appear in a field that cuts across several film seasons.

The Breakthrough Performer category includes India Amarteifio for "Clarissa" and Adia for "Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother." The Gotham Audience Award returns after a six-year hiatus, with eight films in contention. The ceremony takes place November 30 in New York City.
