Every entry carries the same formal patience: controlled pacing, deliberate sound design, a camera that refuses to comment on what it sees. What changes is the script, the scope, and whether the emotional payload is actually earned by the time the credits roll.

He has worked with Roger Deakins three times. He has been nominated for Best Director once. The Dune duology crossed $1.1 billion combined at the worldwide box office. None of that fully explains why Arrival still lands the way it does.
