Focus Features unveiled the first trailer for George Oakley's Sense and Sensibility today, confirming an October 16, 2026 theatrical release distributed internationally by Universal Pictures International.
Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles star as the Dashwood sisters, joined by Caitríona Balfe, George MacKay, Fiona Shaw, Frank Dillane, Herbert Nordrum, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach. Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner produce alongside India Flint and Jo Wallett. Diana Reid wrote the adaptation, working from Austen's 1811 novel.
Set in Georgian England, Austen's story follows the Dashwood women after their father's death leaves them in diminished financial circumstances. Forced to relocate from their estate to a modest cottage, the two eldest daughters must navigate competing pressures of romantic feeling and social survival. The trailer frames the material through close performance rather than period spectacle.
The October 16 date places Sense and Sensibility at the front edge of the awards window. Working Title's involvement, alongside Focus Features distribution and Universal Pictures International handling global territories, gives the film significant institutional backing heading into a competitive fall season.
