Bruce Campbell disclosed a five-year cancer prognosis on The Adam Carolla Show on September 4. The type of cancer has not been named. He first announced the diagnosis in March 2026, describing it as "treatable but not curable."
He was on the show to promote a film.
That film is Ernie & Emma, a small dramatic feature about Ernie Tyler, a pear salesman in rural Oregon who follows his late wife's detailed instructions on a road trip after her death. It is a quiet pivot from the horror genre that made Campbell's career. He is taking it on an 18-date Alamo Drafthouse tour, which launched September 6 in Los Angeles and runs through November 14 in Littleton, Colorado.
"I've decided pretty specifically though to live with it, not die from it," Campbell said, according to The Wrap. He added: "It's a whack-a-mole life, literally."
"I am a tough old son-of-a-bitch and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while," he said.
