Warner Bros. and DC Studios confirmed Monday that production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused. Director Matt Reeves stepped away from the production to address a family matter. No timeline for resumption was given.

In a statement, DC Studios said: "Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon."

The film is currently scheduled for a February 18, 2028 release. According to Deadline, sources caution it is too early to determine whether the current stoppage will affect that date. The production has already faced a string of delays. Its original release was set for October 3, 2025, with subsequent pushbacks tied to script development and the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Returning cast includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb. New additions include Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, and Brian Tyree Henry, with roles not yet officially confirmed.

The February 2028 date remains on the calendar.
