Warner Bros. has moved The Batman: Part II to February 18, 2028. The sequel had previously been scheduled for October 2, 2026, then shifted to October 1, 2027, before landing on its current date. Director Matt Reeves announced the change alongside the first camera test footage of Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne.
The footage, shared by Reeves, is not a trailer. It is a technical test from the production revealing the film's winter setting. An updated Batmobile fitted with snow tires appears in the footage. The sequel takes place in Gotham City during winter, in the aftermath of the flooding that ended the first film.
Filming began in June 2026. Returning to the cast are Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, and Jayme Lawson. New additions include Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry, Sebastian Koch, and Gil Perez-Abraham. Reeves co-wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin.
The February 2028 release date places the sequel inside the awards window. The original The Batman opened in March 2022, directed by Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Tomlin.
