The trailer for Avengers: Doomsday arrived July 20. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film opens in theaters December 18, 2026.
The two-minute cut delivers the first sustained look at Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom, in full armor. It also confirms the return of Steve Rogers: Chris Evans is shown lifting Mjolnir in what appears to be a domestic setting, his first MCU appearance since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. James Marsden's Cyclops appears alongside established Avengers, marking one of the most significant X-Men integrations the MCU has attempted.
The trailer broke the single-day viewing record within three hours of its Sunday release, according to Eastern Herald. The previous record was held by Deadpool and Wolverine.
"He's not simply a villain," Joe Russo told The Hollywood Reporter. "He's one of the most complex Marvel characters. He's always three moves ahead." Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark through the MCU's first three phases before returning as Doom, said he "couldn't have imagined reuniting with this amazing team, let alone as a new character."
The Russo Brothers previously directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The script is credited to Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. The film runs 165 minutes. Avengers: Secret Wars, the follow-up, is currently set for December 17, 2027.
