Disney confirmed this week that Avengers: Doomsday carries a runtime of 165 minutes. The figure, described by the studio as not yet final, places the film between Avengers: Infinity War (149 minutes) and Avengers: Endgame (181 minutes). Tickets go on sale July 20 for the December 18 release, with Infinity Vision screens going first.
Infinity Vision is Disney's new large-format theater brand, created after Warner Bros. secured IMAX exclusivity for Dune: Part Three, which opens the same day. The competing December 18 releases set up one of the year's most direct theatrical confrontations.
Robert Downey Jr. plays Doctor Doom, a casting that repositions the actor who built the MCU's first decade as the franchise's central antagonist. Returning alongside him: Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, and Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Rebecca Romijn also appear. Anthony and Joe Russo return to direct.
Disney will release Avengers: Endgame Encore on September 25 in Infinity Vision format as a runway for the December opener. The runtime remains subject to change, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Marvel declined to comment.
