Disney's confidence in Avengers: Doomsday now has a number behind it.
The film has cleared $50 million in domestic advance ticket sales with three months still to go before its December 18 opening, according to The Wrap. Disney CFO Hugh Johnston confirmed the milestone: "We're three months out from the movie, and we already have $50 million of presales...there is a ton of thirst and excitement within that fan base to see another Avengers movie."
The format breakdown is the sharper detail. Seventy percent of those pre-sales are for Infinity Vision screenings. Infinity Vision is Disney's premium large format certification, unveiled at CinemaCon to designate its highest-end theatrical experiences. Audiences are not just returning to the MCU. They want the biggest screen available when they do.
The surrounding data supports the reading. Marvel content logged 420 million viewing hours on Disney+ in August, an increase of more than 200 million hours from the prior month. The July trailer, which delivered the first full look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, became Disney's most-viewed trailer on record.
The Russo Brothers return to direct their first MCU feature since Avengers: Endgame. The film opens December 18, 2026, sharing the corridor with Denis Villeneuve's third Dune installment. Screen availability will be contested.
