The 63rd Golden Horse Awards announced its nominations on October 1, with Sabu's Arrested Memory claiming the top spot on 11 nominations, one ahead of Shu Qi's directorial debut Girl.

Arrested Memory is a thriller set in Taiwan, shot in Chinese, from Japanese filmmaker Sabu (Hiroyuki Tanaka), which premiered at Venice before playing Toronto. Its 11 nominations span best narrative feature, best director, leading actor, supporting actor, cinematography, art direction, makeup and costume design, action choreography, original film song, film editing, and sound effects. Ethan Juan received a best leading actor nomination for his performance in the film.

Shu Qi's Girl is her first feature as a director. The film follows at 10 nominations. Double Happiness and We Are Born Good each received 9. The five nominees for best narrative feature are Girl, Double Happiness, We Are Born Good, Arrested Memory, and We Are All Strangers.

The best actor nominees are Leon Dai, Liu Kuan-ting, Yeung Wai-lun, Ethan Juan, and Jack Tan. Best actress nominees are Angela Yuen, Jennifer Yu, Liang Cuishan, Chung Suet-ying, and Yeo Yann Yann. The competition received 587 submissions across all categories this year.

The ceremony will be held November 22 at Taipei Music Center.
