Aaron Tveit has joined Nice Eggs, the upcoming indie coming-of-age drama, as the male lead opposite Angourie Rice and Jane Krakowski, according to Deadline. The film marks the narrative feature directorial debut of Amanda Lipitz.
Tveit plays Marty, a divorced corporate attorney from Queens who meets Cori on a blind date. Rice plays Cori, a young woman working to break a generational cycle of broken relationships while navigating a turbulent dynamic with her loving but erratic mother, played by Krakowski. Marty offers Cori stability, though he is adamantly against having children.
The screenplay was written by Sandi Farkas, who co-produces alongside Henry Tisch, Lipitz's Key to the City Productions, Diane Nabatoff, and Tory Metzger.
Tveit won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Moulin Rouge! The Musical and has appeared in Schmigadoon!, Earth Abides, and American Horror Stories. He also played Enjolras in the 2012 film adaptation of Les Misérables. Nice Eggs represents a quieter register for a performer more associated with high-energy stage and screen work.
Lipitz, previously known for documentary work, brings a character-focused sensibility to the project. With Rice, Krakowski, and Tveit now in place, the film arrives with a cast that positions it for the festival circuit.
